INTAS PROJECT: "Anomalous Non-Linear Random Motions Governed by Fractional Kinetic Equations"

INTAS PROJECT No 00-0847
DURATION: 2 YEARS 1 July 2001 - 1- July 2003
TITLE: Anomalous Non-Linear Random Motions Governed by Fractional Kinetic Equations

Project Coordinator is Professor Joseph KLAFTER of Tel Aviv University (Israel)

The Teams involved are:

C0 Team leader: Joseph Klafter (Tel Aviv University, Israel).
The team includes Ralf Metzler (now at NORDITA Institute, Copenhagen, Denmark)

CR1 Team leader: Francesco Mainardi (University of Bologna, Italy)
The team includes Rudolf Gorenflo (Free University of Berlin, Germany)

CR2 Team leader: Yurii Klimantovich (Moscow State University, Russia)

CR3 Team leader: Aleksei Chechkin (Kharkov Institute of Physics and Technology, Ukraine)

Two project meetings were hold in 2002
1. at the University Bologna, Italy, from Thursday 28 February to Friday 1 March, 2002
2. at the Free University of Berlin, Germany, from Thursday 3 to Friday 4 October, 2002

The INTAS participants at the meeting in Bologna were:
R. Gorenflo (Berlin), A. Chechkin (Kharkov), J. Klafter (Tel-Aviv), and the organizer F. Mainardi (Bologna)
Invited Guest was : Alexander Blumen (Freiburg)

The following seminars (attended by a number of students of the University of Bologna) were held
A. Chechkin (Kharkov): Confined Levy Flights
A. Blumen (Freiburg) : Anomalous Dynamics and the Scaling of Polymers
J. Klafter (Tel Aviv): Anomaly and Strong Anomaly in Diffusion Processes

The INTAS participants at the meeting in Berlin were:
F. Mainardi (Bologna), R. Metzler (Copenhagen) A. Chechkin (Kharkov), J. Klafter (Tel-Aviv), and the organizer R. Gorenflo (Berlin).
Invited Guests : Alexander Blumen (Freiburg), Igor Sokolov (Freiburg and Berlin, Germany), Nickolay Korabel (MPIPKS, Dresden, Germany)

The following seminars (attended by a number of students of the Free University of Berlin) were held
F. Mainardi (Bologna): Space-Time Fractional Diffusion Equation and Related Probability Distributions
R. Metzler (Copenhagen) : Anomalous Transport and the Fractional Fokker-Planck Equation
I. Sokolov (Freiburg-Berlin): Subordination, Pseudo-Subordination and the Murphy law of Dispersive Dynamics
N. Korabel (Dresden, Germany) Fractal Deterministic Diffusion in the Non Hyperbolic Climbing Sine Map

The next INTAS project meeting will be held in Copenhagen (Denmark),
from 1 to 4 May 2003, organized by Ralf METZLER.
In combination with the meeting, a MINI-SYMPOSIUM ON ANOMALOUS DYNAMICAL PROCESSES will be held on May 3-4 with emphasis on its description in terms of generalised stochastic frameworks.
This venture is intended to be a forum for the presentation and discussion of recent advances in the mathematical and physical understanding of anomalous relaxation and transport processes, as well as applications to economic/financial problems.

The intended number of invited participants is between 15 and 20.
The meeting will be held in the historical Auditorium A of the Niels Bohr Institute, Blegdamsvej 17, Copenhagen.
